Decot Hy-Wyd FRAMES are manufactured by Decot at the Phoenix, Arizona, facility. The frames come in three sizes: 64-junior or ladies, 67- standard, and 69 large. They come in black or gold finish with or without spring hinge temples. (The Hy-Wyd with the Hy-Lo Bridge comes only with spring hinge temples). The frame is manufactured from high quality spring metal, and sets behind the interchangeable lenses, eliminating smudging and fogging around the forehead and nasal area. It is lighter than titanium!
The Hy-Wyd frame was designed by Bud Decot to meet the sport person's needs. It has a 3mm bridge so there is very little space between the lenses. The lenses set high and wide allowing a wide field of vision. The cable temples keep the glasses comfortably in place. The optional Hy-Lo bridge raises and lowers the frame to keep the optical center in the perfect place for the particular activity.
Non-Prescription and Prescription Lenses
Decot makes non-prescription and prescription lenses for Decot Sport Glasses... as well as for your Post 4, Ranger, Browning, Serengeti, B&L Shooters, and Zeiss Shooting Glasses.
When you call or fax us with your prescription, we also need a measurement called "PD" (pupilary distance). If you don't find this on the prescription, call your doctor or optician and get it first.
Lenses are made out of CR-39 or Polycarbonate and provide complete ultra-violet protection and are hard-coated to minimize scratching. Anti-Reflective coating, HI-Index, Transition, and Polarized are also available.
General Info - Color Recommendations
All Decot Hy-Wyd lenses have UVA and UVB protection and are available in various shades to accommodate individual light sensitivities. We recommend you stay with the lightest lens shade that is comfortable for you. This will force the pupil to constrict, giving you a better depth of field.
Average Daytime Light Conditions
The light to medium shades of:
- V-lite (Rose): fantastic when shooting orange, lime green and black targets. This lens darkens the sky and fades out the green background. Excellent for hunting too.
- Target Sun (Lite, Med, Dark): likewise good for all colored targets. Also fades out green background which enhances the target. For sun sensitive eyes, the target sun is a little cooler than the more intense V-lites.
- Target Orange: Good all around shade for orange targets, especially on average sun or light overcast days.
- Bronze: A good all purpose lens for skeet, Trap and sporting clays on bright days and general hunting conditions.
- Vermillion (Red): Most of the lenses described above have a percentage of vermillion chemicals in the coating to enhance the target colors. People who have red/green color deficiency, find this lens best for general conditions.
- Orange Ice, Pink Blaze, Rose Blaze: These tints are enjoyed by many who like the brightness of target color and sharp contrast to the background.
- Blue Ice: Custom developed for lime green targets.
Low Light Conditions
- Gold, Clear, Fawn, Yellow: These colors will give you a high percentage of light transmission and better definition of your target.
- Anti-Reflective Coating: Eliminates all reflection off the surface of a lens giving you maximum light transmission for sharper focus. Special handling is necessary.
Intense Sunlight or Glare
- Darker shades of V-lites, Target Sun, Bronze, Royal Bud, and Grey are available. Also available are Polarized lens shades good for medium to intense sunlight causing glare, as well as for fishing.
